Claire is a previous astrology client who called me this winter requesting an astrological update.  She was experiencing tremendous anxiety due to mounting bills and a depleted financial situation.  She was laid off last year and her husband's sales commissions were cut back significantly.  Claire is also struggling to get her home graphics design business off the ground with two babies at home needing her full attention!  Claire was hoping an astrological consultation could offer her some clarity and hope for the near future.  She wanted insight on the following questions..."Should I forget this home business and get a full time job with benefits?"  "Should I pursue my dream of a home graphics business?"  "Will my financial situation improve anytime soon?"  "Will we have to sell this house?".  Of course, only Claire can answer these questions, however, intuitive knowledge of her astrological "climate" will offer her invaluable assistance to channel her energies in the right direction.  In addition, reflecting on the poetic imagery of her natal birthchart will bring Claire comfort, healing and empowerment!


I explained to Claire that when major astrological occurrences interface with her natal chart, it suggests a time of important developments in her life.  There are a several possible manifestations of her astrological aspects...physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually!  The consultation with Claire will help me as a professional astrologer to divine on what level these aspects will likely manifest in her life at this time. 

In preparation for Claire's consultation, I studied the outer planetary transits to her birthchart, her solar arc progressions and secondary progressions.  I noted a multitude of astrological factors depicting her life events last year as well as possible future events.  Please note that due to limited space, this article will not cover all aspects discussed.  It will, however, delineate major considerations in my discussion with Claire. 

The very first thing I noted for Claire's update was the phase of her secondary progressed Moon which suggests whether Claire is in a waxing, growth phase or a waning, letting go and reorientation phase.  Claire had been in her SP (secondary progressed) gibbous phase for several years.  This waxing phase occurs before the full phase.  It is a time for making adjustments in one's life, honing down to essentials and eliminating whatever is superfluous in her life.  She will begin her SP full phase in January 2004 when the seed germinated at her new Moon 14 - 15 years ago will reach culmination.  She will then be called to infuse a sense of meaning into the structures of her life.  Fullness either manifests fulfillment or disintegration.  Disintegration would only occur if there are useless structures in Claire's life not supportive of her soul's development.  Claire's SP Full Moon phase will conjoin her natal Moon in Sagittarius in her fourth house of home, parents, inner foundation and inner security thus illuminating these areas of Claire's life.  Many clients look back at their full phases and realize it was the busiest and most productive time in their lives.

I next noted the major indicators of the recent past which suggested much stress around finances and identity.  The progressed ruler of her second house (resources, finances, self worth) was in challenge aspect to Jupiter and the Moon suggesting excessive expenditures  and domestic quarreling  which she had been experiencing.  In addition, her progressed Mars in the second house was in stress aspect to Saturn, the reality check planet!  Claire was certainly being called to make some major adjustments in these areas.

I noted that the year 2002 into early 2003 had the ego dissolving planet Neptune prominently configured in Claire's natal chart explaining her sense of hopelessness and temporary confusion.  Transiting Neptune was in stress aspect to Claire's Sun (identity) and Mars (capacity to act), both suggesting depleted energy and feelings of fogginess while her old attitudes slowly fade away.  She has been challenged to incorporate trust and faith (Neptune) until new concepts and attitudes solidify.  Those individuals with rigid goals and attitudes are affected the most by Neptune's ego dissolving effects.  Positively, Claire is now able to pierce through illusion, delve into her creative talents and become conscious of her soul's evolution!  This is a time when Claire's artistic talents can come to the fore!  Neptunian energy is aptly symbolized by the Hanged Man in the tarot archetypes...developing new perspectives while in a state of fruitful stagnation.  Yes, stagnation can bear many fruits if one trusts the process and surrenders to it!  I tell all my clients...there is divinity in chaos.

Claire has also been experiencing her Neptune square Neptune mid-life transit when disillusionment often sets in.  This is a time when we have to sacrifice some of our old dreams and create new ones more conducive to our inner reality.  This is also a time of heightened creativity and inspiration.  Many of us will experience a crisis of meaning during this 1-2 year long process of subtle refinement.  Claire and I discussed how the act of starting a home graphics design business has inspired her to reacquaint herself with her innate artistic talents.  She has never felt confident enough to say, "I am a true artist and my creative talents can benefit others!".  A wonderful affirmation for Claire at this time could be..."I now manifest joyful and creative abundance within and all around me." 

I next noted major aspects in effect at our consultation time period.  Claire had transiting Pluto in challenge aspect to her North and South Node (see North Node article).  This suggests a very karmic time in which Claire is challenged to integrate her past with her future.  In other words, she is being called upon to deal with old attitudes and develop new modes of operation within certain areas.  This will require Claire to move out of her comfort zone into Pluto's realm of ego death and rebirth prior to the actual transformation.  In addition to transiting Pluto in aspect to her nodes, it was also in conjunction with her natal Moon in the fourth house...exact again in February 2003 and in effect for at least the rest of the year.  Pluto takes 248 years to circle our birthcharts, so not all of us will experience such a potent transformation of our emotional body (Moon)!   When psychologically attuned Pluto links its energies to our instinctual, feeling Moon, it reactivates early emotional patterns which reverberate on an unconscious level.  There is no better time than the present for Claire to do an "emotional housecleaning."  Positively, Claire can accomplish much inner work on her lunar energies.  She can tap depths (Pluto) of feeling she never knew existed with emotional strength and conviction.  She is challenged to embrace emotional authenticity within herself and within her actual physical abode...her home.  She may find herself embroiled in various domestic challenges such as unpaid bills, caring for  aging parents and initiating a home business with no childcare availability.  More positively, she also may channel this intensity into studying (Moon in Sagittarius) her craft to empower her up and coming graphics design business.  When this transit is over in early 2004, Claire will slowly realize that her emotional resilience has gone up a notch or two!

I next targeted specific times in the spring and early summer of 2003 offering supportive energies to Claire's goals discussed  during our consultation time.  Transiting Jupiter which has been in her 12th house (behind the scenes, solitude, incubation times) will enter her first house in July 2003, infusing Claire with hope, optimism and inspiration.  This expansive planet will also link up with her natal Sun and midheaven (vocation status) offering more client opportunities and improved business.  This may also be a time when Claire decides to accept a part time position to supplement her home business.  Claire will also have harmonious Saturn transits and progressions which will provide stability, patience, focus and groundedness.  Saturn helps us restructure any faulty foundations in our lives.  Also in July of 2003, Claire will experience a Solar Arc progressed New Moon in her fourth house (home, roots, parents, inner foundation) suggesting a major new beginning in this area of her life.  This could prove to be beneficial time to commit to her business and initiate further actions to make it a reality.  In August, transiting Saturn trining her Sun, along with SA (solar arc) midheaven in sesquisquare aspect to Neptune should help Claire ground (Saturn) her dreamy aspirations (Neptune).  Trines are soft aspects providing a sense of ease and flow in whatever areas they are activating in our charts. Square aspects bring challenges, however, they provide the ambition to get things off the ground.  Without squares motivating us to change and grow,  we would all stagnate in a pool of collective laziness!

Transiting Uranus, which takes 84 years to circle our birthcharts, is less than one degree from Claire's natal Jupiter in her seventh house of relationships and dealings with the public.  This means that when Claire experiences her Uranus opposition in March 2004, she will simultaneously experience a Uranus and Jupiter conjunction!  Wildcard Uranus linked with lucky Jupiter signifies unusual business opportunities, exciting new friendships or relationships and new opportunities for study, travel and philosophical expansion.  This time period could prove to be very lucky!  On the other hand, the mid life Uranus opposition challenges us to live our truth while simultaneously considering the needs of our loved ones...which may manifest a few growing pains in the process.   We all experience this particular transit between the ages of 40-42 years old...often dubbed the "mid life crisis".  In a nutshell, this is a time to narrow the discrepancy between our authentic visions and what we have actually achieved.  We may feel a calling at this time to bridge our present reality with our inner truth.  If Claire has been 'living a lie" so to speak, she will experience new opportunities to review and make changes. 

I next noted that Claire would experience her SA Pluto conjoining her natal Mercury in July 2004 which will demand new mental perspectives from Claire.  This will occur in her third house of siblings, immediate environment, learning and mindset.  This will be an excellent time for intense research, writing and profound thinking.  Pluto linked to Mercury empowers our ability to persuade, communicate and transform old mental patterns. 

I excitedly explained to Claire that after the fall of 2004, she can look forward with joy to an exciting and fulfilling time period beginning late 2004 into 2005 when transiting Uranus will trine her natal Sun in Scorpio in her third house.  This will be a time when Claire can "plug in" to her true self and experience a profound sense of inner freedom.  She will feel vibrant, spirited and positively unconventional.  Social and professional activities will be favored at this time as well.  When you combine this with her SP Full Moon phase, Claire can expect some exciting possibilities to come into fruition.  Her home business may be prove to be creative and lucrative.  Since Uranus rules her seventh house of marriage, she could also experience some real breakthroughs in any marital differences at this time.  In addition, transiting Pluto will  be trining her ascendant in early 2005 promising gains in areas of self empowerment.  Claire can expect an increase in her confidence and personal power at this time.  She will seek a higher quality intensity in her life experiences at this time.  All her inner work that she has been processing for quite some time now will reward her with a positive regeneration at the deepest core of her being (Pluto).

In conclusion, Claire's astrological climate suggests intense emotional themes in her home (inner and outer home) providing lessons in  personal empowerment and financial planning.  Her financial situation should experience gradual improvement along with client prospects for her new business.  Possibly, she may accept a second job to supplement her business.  Her extended forecast promises eventual clarity as well as her blossoming individuality and creativity.  

For tarot and numerology enthusiasts, Claire is in the process of completing a number 7 year and a 16 year using the tarot archetypes.  In a 7 year, many of us are either forced to withdraw, or we find ways to withdraw from the crowd to do some soul searching and inner work.  The 16 year corresponds to the Tower archetype...breaking through bad habits, disruptive changes, and restructuring faulty foundations in our lives.  A 16 year often brings setbacks in material affairs such as bankruptcy. However, this vibration will teach Claire to plan wisely for her future.  Claire is next entering her 17 year...the Star archetype, providing healing, renewal and guidance from her angels.  Because Claire's soul number is 3, she is destined to follow her urge to create and make her dreams come true.
