Please scroll down to the end of this article where you will find a list of all New Moons in 2009***

As the Moon waxes and wanes in her cyclical cosmic dance, we may observe eight definitive lunar phases called the New Moon, Crescent Moon, First Quarter Waxing, Gibbous, Full Moon, Disseminating, Last Quarter Waxing and Balsamic Moon.  The cycle then repeats.  Each month, we experience a New Moon which is a conjunction (joining together in the same zodiac sign) of both the Sun and Moon.  During the New Moon, the cycle is just beginning to emerge out of the dark balsamic phase when the sky is still dark with promise.  Symbolically, we cannot yet see the manifested fruits of our intentions and planning.  Rather, we tend to act on inspiration, impulse or instinct.

When the two luminaries join together, they are in a sense, united in their quest to plant new seeds which will grow towards fulfillment as the Moon's light increases and energy builds.   Over successive Lunar cycles, what was seeded at the New Moon, will develop momentum through the art of visualization, intention and careful planning.  It is wise to purchase an astrological calendar to keep track of this natural cycle throughout the individual cycles of our personal lives.   Also, you may scroll below and take note of the New Moons listed for the next twelve months.

Generally speaking, from New Moon to Full Moon each month, energy is building as light increases.  Conversely, from Full Moon to Balsamic Moon, energy is winding down and the light is waning.  In addition, we are symbolically releasing and letting go....Especially during the Balsamic phase.   Each and every month, we are collectively afforded the opportunity of a new beginning.  Each of us will experience an auspicious new beginning relating to a specific area of our life experience.  This is because the New Moon will occur in one of twelve astrological houses in our natal horoscope, mapping out precise areas ripe for new beginnings.

At the time of this writing (February 2009), we will experience the next New Moon at 6 degrees of mystical Pisces on February 24, 2009 at 8:35 PM (EST).  Pisces symbolizes dreams, visions, divination, deep meditation, music, creativity and spiritual healing.  Pisces energy is compassionate, intuitive and imaginative.  Pisces is ruled by the mystical planet Neptune.   A New Moon in Pisces is an ideal time to create a visionary tool called a "Dream Board".  I was deeply inspired to write this article after reading a visionary and inspiring book by author Collette Baron-Reid, called Remembering the Future.  In this book, the author discusses how certain metaphysical tools help activate the law of attraction.  She also shares her amazing and inspiring personal experiences after creating her own dream boards many years ago.  Author and world renowned Intuitive Counselor Collette Baron-Reid takes the reader on a journey and explains how they too can create this magical manifestation tool..."Simply draw a border around the perimeter of a large piece of artistic quality bristol board to signal to the universe your intention to manifest the images and affirmations found within it.  Place a spiritual symbol centered at the top in order to signify pure intent - For example, you may choose a depiction of an angel, a cross, a picture of Jesus, or a Buddhist symbol.  Then, in the very middle of the board, place a tiny photo of yourself in which you are smiling and happy.  Use images that you have cut out of magazines, drawn, or photographed that evoke the feeling of what you intend to create and magnetize by the law of attraction."  Please check out Collette's web site for more detailed information on how to go about this at www.colettebaron-reid.com

Another equally inspiring author and world renowned soul coach, Denise Linn, describes a similar process with her "Soul Mission Collage".   Author Denise Linn writes in her book called Soul Coaching- 28 days to discover your authentic self..."On a large sheet of poster board, write your soul mission statement, and then either color, paint, or make a collage with pictures torn out of magazines to create a rendering of the feeling of your mission statement."

Personally speaking, I am intending to start the creation of my own Dream Board at the next New Moon in Pisces, which is the ideal time period to tap into the wellspring of our imagination and plant visionary seeds.  Hmmm...I am already imagining the possibilities....A lush and extremely private garden oasis, a home in Hawaii surrounded by tropical flowers and lush waterfalls, a published book on quantum healing using astrology and other metaphysical tools, a hand stand yoga pose held effortlessly.   I will start with peace and abundant health.  It is important to remember that we are living on earth during the auspicious shifting of the ages from Pisces into Aquarius.  Most of us have heard about the theory that time is speeding up.  Just as time is accelerating, our ability to visualize and manifest for our highest good and the good of others, is accelerating as well.  We are indeed already living on earth in the age of Aquarius.  We are living in a time of unlimited possibilities once we align with spirit or our higher self and realize we are all interconnected.

So, check the lunar calendar below and dream big as you create your own Dream Boards!
