ASTROLOGICALLY
SPEAKING, August 2009 starts on a
confrontational note as transiting Venus forms exact opposition to all or
nothing Pluto (exact on August 1)! Venus is associated with love and relationship
matters, as well as finances and values. Pluto, symbolically, is a
shape shifter kind of energy, demanding we embrace change and intensity as we
transform our perceptions of what is desirable and valuable to
us. There is a Full Moon Lunar
Eclipse at 13 Aquarius August 5 at 8:56 PM (EDT). Lunar Eclipses are
extremely charged Full Moons, and this is the third out of four Lunar
Eclipses we will experience this year. During a Lunar Eclipse, the
Earth moves between the Sun and the Moon. The resulting darkness or
shadowing symbolically represents our deeper and more emotionally charged
moods during these time periods. Our entire web of existence is made of
energy in a myriad of forms and the planets are no exception. We are
linked to the macrocosm of the universe and during an eclipse,
powerful energies resonate with the earth. Eclipses are often described
as a portal opening up, ushering in powerful energies which facilitate
adjustment or change. During this Full Moon, all
things Aquarian are in the spotlight- such as humanitarianism, inventiveness,
originality, rebellion, technology, team work and freedom.
Individually, those of us with personal planets or chart angles impacted by
this eclipse are sure to experience some enlightening or eventful shifts or
experiences. Soon after the Lunar
Eclipse, Mars in Gemini will square Saturn in Virgo (exact 8/10 - 8/11),
however this aspect is in effect during the first two weeks of August.
This particular alignment is known for its cautious, deliberate and sometimes
combative effects. Mars=action and Saturn = contraction. We may
be called to narrow our focus and prioritize on one specific area or
task. We may also be dealing with temporary frustrations and struggles
as a Mars-Saturn aspect can be compared to attempting to drive a
car forward with the brakes on...Not exactly flowing energy. In
addition, Mars-Saturn aspects often suggest focus or limitation in regards to
our physical bodies. This is good time to engage in physical discipline
as this pattern can symbolize investing intense energy into building our
structural reality or our muscles with strengthening or endurance exercises. Mercury, the communications
planet, will also square Mars (exact 8/25) from August 15- August 25...Not
the best time to lose our tempers in heated arguments or provoking
discussions. Mars lends an assertive and bold drive to Mercury's
cerebral and communicative nature. This aspect is great for
impassioned debates that maintain some element of diplomacy or avoidance of
verbal confrontation. Try not to take others words to heart during
this time period, as impulsive words or thoughts may be spoken and
later regretted. Mid month, the Sun in Leo
opposes Jupiter, Chiron and Neptune in Aquarius. With Mars harmoniously
trining this triple conjunction symbolizing
expansion, wounding/healing and consciousness, there is great potential to
use our creative imaginations to come up with inventive solutions to life's
various challenges. These planetary aspects support like minded souls
coming together in the spirit of collaboration for the greater good of all
concerned. On August 17, with Mercury
conjoin Saturn and Sun oppose There is a tremendous amount
of tension later this month with Mars square Uranus on 8/18- 8-19 and Mercury
oppose Uranus on 8/21. These high energy and excitable aspects can be
potentially explosive, temperamental or shocking in their
manifestation. On a positive note, our actions and thoughts are seeking
inventive solutions to reduce or release tension. We may act on some
new, great ideas and invest dynamic energy into new projects which require
swift reactions. Avoid extremely risky situations at this time,
as they may backfire on you! We have a New Moon on August
20 at 27 Leo at 6:03 AM (EDT). This New Moon is energized by an
opposition to Jupiter, Chiron and Neptune in Aquarius, calling for
creative new beginnings and fresh new energies which resonate with
unity, healing, individuality and freedom. Leo is fun, creative,
playful, energetic, dramatic and optimistic. Where is 27 Leo in your
natal birth chart? This is your power spot over the next month to
initiate, begin and follow through on new ideas. On August 26, Mercury, Mars
and Pluto from an exact T square at the potent first degree of
Libra, Cancer and Capricorn, respectively! A Scorpio Moon, also
on August 26, adds further intensity to this day. This is a potent and
high tension alignment! This time period which actually begins
8/17 until the end of month, may pose significant challenges in all
areas of communication. Extremely intense issues or arguments may erupt
or come to the forefront in the media. Setbacks may seemingly stop us
dead in our tracks. Power struggles, battles or confrontations may
ensue. The Mars-Pluto opposition used positively is intense energy
invested in removing corruption or crime. Mars-Pluto is survival
energy which can be an asset in times of great stress.
Willpower and courage are strong at this time. Powerful
actions taken with the intention of creating positive change is the best
course of action at this time. You may be asking, "Any
good news this month?"..... Yes! Mercury makes a
harmonious sextile to Venus all month. No
matter what's going on around us or what our individual struggles are, we can
